John founded this company in 1999, after working countless summers with his father, Aldo Petrocelli. John Graduated from the University of Toronto with an Engineering degree and worked throughout the construction industry, deepening his understanding of efficient construction methods and properties of materials, while achieving the requirements for his Professional Engineering Designation. In the last 25 years, John has dedicated his time to building a company focused on providing backyard getaways to each of his clients where they can make priceless memories with their families and friends. John’s passion for building quality backyards is on display through his thorough planning, his attention to detail, and his responsiveness to customer concerns.

Joe is a University Graduate with a dual degree from the Western School of Engineering and Ivey School of Business. Joe spent his university summers working construction with Backyard Getaways, where he instantly developed an appreciation for the quality standards and family-like culture between the crew and management. Joe’s understanding of construction materials and drawings through his engineering education ensures we always have structurally sound designs and quality sourced materials throughout our projects. Joe’s ability to optimize and streamline the construction process by implementing technology ensures no details are missed, schedules are followed, and projects stay on budget. Furthermore, Joe shares John’s passion in taking pride in our work and creating memories for families that last a lifetime.

Luke Greko is an experienced construction manager and people leader, with 15+ years of field experience. Luke is an innovative and empathetic leader, always pushing our crew to meet the quality expectations promised by Backyard Getaways. Luke’s “do it right the first time” mentality ensures that no corners are cut during the construction process. Luke ensures the crew behaves as if they are working in their own backyard, ensuring safety is in check, no damage to property occurs and there is no mess at the end of the work day.
